A Close Call For Wilde

Recently our beloved leader DJ Wildebeest suffered a way-too-close call. This is the official statement he has released as he gets back on his feet so we can get back on his coat-tails. :

Greetings Y’all,

It’s been a while since I’ve written one of these and now seemed as good a time as any. Recently I had emergency surgery where I had an artery burst in my brain and it went untreated for 3 days.

Starting from the beginning, on the first day I thought I was getting a migraine. Since I had never had one I didn’t know what to expect from a migraine. But i could still work. I was in a lot of pain but I got through the day and went to bed. On the second day it was better but I still had a pretty bad headache. That night however it hit me like a ton of bricks. All of a sudden I felt the color drain from my face, I got a cold sweat, and just the worst pain in my head that I’ve ever had.

I laid day to contemplate what I was going to do and passed out from the pain. When I woke up the next morning it was much worse. I could barely stand. I asked my roommate to take me to the hospital and that started the next week of my life in the hospital.

After a CT scan I was told that they saw a lot of blood in my brain. After the MRI they took me right into an operating room and handed me some paperwork to sign saying that is was much worse than they thought and they had to do something about it as soon as possible because if not I was going to die. As I was signing the paperwork she told me that even if they did the surgery there was still a small chance that I could die during it.

It hit me pretty hard as I was in the operating room. I couldn’t talk to my roommate. I couldn’t call anyone. I just had to tough it out and get through it.

And get through it I did. A 4 hour surgery went by and 4 days of recovery in the hospital. I was discharged and was told that I had a six week recovery time, which I am still in the middle of. I get headaches pretty regularly but they are getting better everyday. Now I just need to wait and in six months go in for a follow up to make sure that the artery hasn’t reformed and doesn’t have a chance to burst again.

So that’s pretty much it. It was as close to death as I ever want to be and hopefully won’t happen again any time soon. Thankfully now I have gotten well enough that I have started working on Evil Brain again as well as Beauty and the Wildebeest. And hopefully I can continue doing so for a while down the line.

Thank you for all the well wishes and always remember to take care of yourselves. Self care is important and I won't be skipping on it again. Nor should you.
